Impressive speaker line-up for Future Fuels Conference 2022

While the industry EXPO has always been a trade exhibition, interest in content and speakers has grown in recent years and the Future Fuels Conference at EXPO 2022 is showcasing an impressive programme line-up designed to tackle industry issues ‘head-on’.

The latest innovations from, and for, the liquid fuels distribution industry will be revealed at UKIFDA EXPO 2022 and Future Fuels Conference which takes place this week at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool - 27th and 28th April 2022.

The theme of this year’s EXPO is ‘Back for the Future.’ Apart from reuniting the industry physically, the event will focus on the industry’s future, as UKIFDA chief executive Ken Cronin explains: “The timing of this year’s conference couldn’t be better. Last year was the first time the liquid fuels industry held a conference dedicated to Future Fuels and it was hugely popular. Since then, much has happened regarding the industry’s activity and government announcements, there’s plenty to discuss.”

Future Fuels – a complete picture

The Future Fuels Conference 2022, sponsored by Crown Oil, will reflect this progress and view future fuels through the eyes of five different participants – the liquid fuel industry, fuel customers, government, the market and suppliers. Each with a unique story to tell and a unique set of requirements and ambitions, this year’s conference will start to pull these convergent strands together to work out what the future could, and needs to, look like.

The daily sessions will share the latest thinking, research and success stories, to educate, inform and inspire visitors to make positive change happen.

The first day includes an industry roundtable where the progress being made around the UK with the introduction of renewable liquid fuels into both the domestic and commercial markets will be discussed – highlighting key insights from those on the frontline.

Certas Energy HSE director Wilma Kelly will share the company’s visionary journey to improved health and safety, driver welfare, spills and trips and lost time accidents.

And UKIFDA and OFTEC will provide insight into the Future Ready Fuel campaign focusing on what customers and installers are saying. The more in-depth experience of HVO will also be shared via video by homeowners, Mars and Kirsten, the couple behind My Home Farm and one of the first participants in the demonstration project.

Addressing the challenges

Day two will explore the very latest government-related issues in the UK and Ireland. It also features one of the brightest minds in fuel price data, James Spencer from Portland Fuels, who will be discussing how a price mechanism could work for UK home heating customers and the source and resources required to bring HVO to the domestic sector.

Another highlight is an environmental scientist and Head of Sustainability at the Zemo Partnership, Gloria Esposito. With expertise in policy research and development related to low emission vehicles and sustainable low carbon fuels, Gloria will be answering the big question ‘How do we maintain sustainability?’
