JET Restalrig has reopened following a six-month transformation, delivering a significantly upgraded forecourt and convenience proposition for the local community.
Operated by RJ Fuels Ltd, the site has undergone a full rebuild, with a redesigned layout aimed at improving both customer flow and operational efficiency.
Infrastructure upgrade supports modern forecourt demands
The redevelopment includes a fully resurfaced forecourt, new pumps, improved traffic flow and additional parking, alongside upgraded under-canopy services such as air and screen wash.
JET ULTRA Premium Fuels have also been introduced, expanding the site’s offer to four fuel grades for the first time – reflecting the continued importance of differentiated fuel products within the forecourt mix.

While traditional fuel infrastructure remains core, the redesign reflects a broader shift towards sites that are more efficient, accessible and capable of supporting higher-throughput operations.
Retail and food-to-go drive value beyond fuel
Inside, the store has been fully refitted, more than doubling the effective retail offer despite only a modest increase in footprint. Food-to-go sits at the heart of the new proposition.
This reflects a wider trend across the forecourt sector, where margin growth is increasingly driven by retail and foodservice, rather than fuel alone.
Embracing AI and technology
One of the most notable elements of the redevelopment is the integration of AI-enabled security technology, developed in partnership with RETaiL.
The system is designed to identify suspicious behaviour, alert staff in real time and deliver in-store messaging to deter theft. It is also being trialled to monitor forecourt activity on the forecourt, helping to address unsafe behaviour.
There is increasing interest in intelligent monitoring systems for forecourt operations – supporting loss prevention, staff safety and operational oversight, particularly as sites become more complex.
An evolving partnership
Commenting on the redevelopment, Graham Clout, Retail Manager at Phillips 66 Limited, highlighted the role of supplier–dealer collaboration: “We work closely with our dealers to support developments like this, combining a strong, reliable fuel offer with a recognised brand, alongside the flexibility for sites to shape their own retail proposition.”
Developments such as JET Restalrig underline broader sector developments:
- Growth in infrastructure investment to improve efficiency and throughput
- Diversification of revenue streams beyond fuel
- Increasing adoption of technology
- Partnership development
- Increasing focus on a customer-centric, service-led proposition
As the energy transition continues to reshape demand, operations that can successfully integrate fuel, other revenue streams and technological advantage are likely to define the next phase of forecourt – and wider downstream—evolution.
