The company was shortlisted for the Barclays Award in the Building Resilient Businesses category thanks to the work it has been doing in Cumbria to help businesses protect themselves against future flooding events following the devastating storms of winter 2015/2016.
The company provided emergency response during and after the floods and is now supporting businesses and domestic properties by advising on and installing flood mitigation measures, as well as helping those eligible to access the Government’s flood grants.
“We’re extremely pleased to have been shortlisted for a project that has involved a number of Adler & Allan staff, providing very worthwhile support to those businesses in the most flood hit regions of the UK,” commented Mark Calvert, CEO for Adler & Allan.
“Storm’s Desmond and Eva caused a huge amount of devastation, costing whole communities dearly in terms of damaged premises and equipment, downtime and loss of earnings. Following the extensive clean-up, we’re helping to ensure that should the worst happen again, Cumbria’s homes and businesses are better prepared to deal with flooding.”
Chief executive of Business in the Community, Amanda Mackenzie, said: “We want all businesses to be a force for good in the community, and being shortlisted means that Adler & Allan can inspire many more companies to be part of the responsible business movement, so that together we can work for a fairer society and a more sustainable future.”
The winners of all ten categories, including the Responsible Business of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner at the Royal Albert Hall on 4th July, in front of 1,200 business leaders. The headline sponsors of the 2017 Responsible Business Awards are Experian, Unilever, UPS, Aviva, Barclays, Fujistu, UBS, Unipart Group.
