Rory Clarke of J R Rix & Sons is recognised for visionary leadership in university honours

In the new year, the University of Hull will honour five inspirational leaders and innovators, whose leadership, creativity, and impact have transformed their industries, sports, and communities.

Ahead of its Winter Graduation ceremonies in January, the University has announced the recipients of its Honorary Degrees, and among those is Rory Clarke: Managing Director of J R Rix & Sons Ltd and Hull University Business School alumnus.

In its announcement the university described Rory as “a game-changing business leader” adding: “Rory is recognised for his visionary leadership and commitment to regional business growth.”

Rory earned his MBA at Hull in 2011 and is a member of the Logistics Institute advisory board.

Rory will be made an Honorary Doctor of Letters and is among distinguished company as one of five such honourees including Australian coach and Head Coach of Hull Kingston Rovers Willie Peters, who took the club from relegation in 2016 to this year’s historic treble-winning success and who will be honoured at a December event.

Generations of change-makers

Along with Lee Radford, another coaching hero, gin genius Lesley Gracie, master distiller at Hendrick’s Gin Distillery Limited and learning champion Yiannis Koursis, CEO of The Bedford College Group and previously CEO and Principal of Barnsley College, Rory will join graduating students at January’s degree celebrations.

Rory described the recognition by the University of Hull as “A massive honour.”
