The official opening ceremony was attended by the minister of state for transport and MP for the area, Chris Heaton-Harris and other local dignitaries and members of the Northamptonshire Logistics Forum, as well as representatives from Certas Energy and the Red Lion Truckstop.
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, Certas Energy representatives were on hand to discuss the benefits available to fuel card holders, including fuel discounts for users of the network of Certas Energy bunker sites.
The truck stop is situated 400m from junction 16 of the M1, with the refuelling bunker promising to be a significant addition to the UK’s strategic road network. Featuring eight high-speed pumps dispensing up to 120 litres per minute, the site will be able to accommodate the many HGV drivers passing through Northamptonshire’s transport hub with ease.
“The addition of a Certas Energy refuelling bunker is fantastic news for the tens of thousands of lorry drivers who pass through the ‘golden triangle’ every day”, commented Red Lion director, Zarfeen Sadrudrin.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our customer experience. Adding high-speed pumps and wide refuelling lanes offers HGV drivers a quick and hassle-free refuelling experience.
“The ‘golden triangle’ is a key strategic location,” added Andrew Goodwin, national bunker manager for Certas Energy.
“Partnering with an established truckstop in the Red Lion allows Certas Energy to keep drivers moving by offering a one- stop destination where they can access everything they need.”
