Having done the equivalent of 60 round the world trips, the Pentons vehicle registered DX51 OGE has spent 45,000 working hours transporting chilled foods and other goods to all corners of the UK.
Company director Gary Penton says apart from a couple of new turbos, the truck has run perfectly, having been serviced regularly and given an oil change every 20,000 miles.
Jeff Davies and Richard Jones, two long serving mechanics responsible for servicing the truck, attributed the Volvo’s longevity to regular oil changes.
“Morris Lubricants have a very good reputation for quality oil,” said Jeff. “They are company that always ensures that their oil is well over the required standard.”
Like the rest of the company’s fleet, the truck is run on – Versimax HD4 15w-40 – supplied by Morris Lubricants. Versimax HD4 15W-40 provides high levels of engine cleanliness, promoting efficient operation and improved fuel economy, as well as ensuring critical components are protected from wear under the most arduous conditions, including extended oil drain regimes.
Pentons’ late founder, Roy Penton, was passionate about using Morris Lubricants’ oils in his vehicles and his sons, Gary and Stephen, have happily maintained the family tradition.
“We have never used anything other than Morris oil,” said Gary.
“We wouldn’t entertain another oil company because we get great wear out of our engines and they are always as clean as a whistle when we come to rebuild them, which shows how good the oil is.”
“We have a very good relationship with Pentons who are a long-standing customer,” said, Andrew Goddard, Morris Lubricants’ managing director.
“The longevity of this remarkable Volvo FH12 460 proves the quality of our oil, which does exactly what it says on the tin.”
