CarFest is switching its fleet to sustainable fuel thanks to a brand-new partnership with SUSTAIN

From delivery trucks to luggage buggies, 123 festival fleet vehicles will run on SUSTAIN Diesel for the event, a ‘plant-powered’ drop-in fuel from Coryton. Over the weekend (23rd-25th August), this will save approximately 10.8 tonnes of CO2 compared with traditional fossil fuels, roughly the same weight as seven average cars. This is the equivalent of planting approximately 60 trees over the course of a year.

To deliver this saving, the fuel uses agricultural waste, such as straw or crop waste which wouldn’t be used for consumption. This allows it to harness and recycle carbon that already exists in our atmosphere, absorbed by plants as they grow, rather than releasing additional CO2 currently locked underground in fossil fuel.

A green gathering

The festival, created by radio presenter Chris Evans to raise funds for children’s charities, will also be providing an onsite EV charging facility for campers for the very first time. A further 2,000 litres of SUSTAIN gasoline will also be supplied for vehicles participating in various track events. As a result, CarFest 2024 is set to be the festival’s greenest gathering to date, offering motorists and families the chance to explore a range of sustainable solutions.

Festival Director, Anjna Raheja said: “We’re excited to further our environmental efforts for CarFest 2024 and showcase the many technologies available. As our event line-up goes to show, the UK’s passion for motoring takes many forms and we are keen to reflect that variety in the partners we welcome on site. Whether you’re a classic car owner wanting a credible fossil fuel alternative or you’re interested in embracing electric vehicles, you can explore it all at the event.”

Fundraising

As well as supplying fuel free of charge for the fundraising event, SUSTAIN is also the Car Club Collective partner. In this area of the show, attendees can enjoy an incredible collection of cars, both classic and modern, selected by the UK’s most reputable car clubs.

Suresh Nahar, Sustain Brand Manager, said: “We’re incredibly proud to partner with the CarFest 2024 team. The festival is packed with fun for families and car enthusiasts alike, and the funds raised will make a real difference to the children’s charities it supports. By making the simple switch to SUSTAIN, we can also deliver environmental benefits for future generations too.

“Our sustainable fuels solutions can be used in existing vehicles and forecourts today, without any modifications, making them a vital tool in taking immediate action against climate change. It’s great to see CarFest embracing this technology and we can’t wait to spread the word even further at the upcoming event.”

Fellow event partner Mazda will also use SUSTAIN fuel for its Mazda MX-5 Celebration, where 10 examples from four generations of the world’s best-selling, two-seater roadster will take to the CarFest track.
