Since opening its doors in 1995, the site has become a cornerstone of dispenser production for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
Initially launched under the name Schlumberger Retail Petroleum Systems (RPS), the facility was later integrated into Tokheim before becoming part of DFS. Over the past three decades, the Dundee plant has grown into an operation with a 15,000m² footprint — including 13,000m² of manufacturing space and 2,000m² dedicated to office functions.
With a workforce of more than 350 employees, including the EMEA headquarters, the DFS Dundee facility manufactures and exports fuel dispensers to over 160 countries, serving more than 20,000 customers. The site supports both conventional and clean energy fueling solutions under the Wayne and Tokheim brands, helping fuel distributors across the globe meet changing energy demands.
With capacity to produce around 25,000 dispensers and 100,000 nozzles each year, a notable highlight came in 2019/20, when the plant celebrated the installation of its one-millionth nozzle. Today, the facility continues to supply industry-leading dispenser ranges.
A journey of growth
“Celebrating 30 years in Dundee is incredible, and creates this amazing sense of achievement,” said Denise McHugh, Operations Director at DFS Dundee. “We, as DFS, have been able to accomplish so much as a site – from the first CNG dispenser manufacture, to our one millionth nozzle and now our enhanced dispenser range for EMEA… it’s been a fantastic journey of growth and we still have so much we want to achieve.”
Kurt Dillen, DFS Vice President and General Manager EMEA & SAL, echoed the sentiment: “The success and longevity of the DFS Dundee site is truly a testament to past and present team. Our Dundee facility is crucial to ensure we continue to provide technologically advanced, reliable, and high-quality dispensers to our expanding EMEA customer base.”
The anniversary not only marks a time for celebration, but also a reaffirmation of DFS’s commitment to innovation and excellence in fuelling technologies that the liquid fuel distribution industry can rely on for years to come.
As Kurt concludes: “Here’s to the next 30 years in Dundee!”
