Essar opens new Liverpool flagship as retail network growth gathers pace

Essar Energy Transition Retail has opened a new flagship forecourt in Liverpool, marking another step in the company’s fast-moving expansion plans and underlining its growing presence in the UK forecourt market.

EET Essar Flagship forecourt opens

Located on Sefton Street, a key route into Liverpool city centre, the new site gives the business a prominent urban location with strong traffic flow and high customer potential. The launch continues the growing trend of major downstream players investing in strategic retail assets, convenience services and branded network growth.

The new forecourt includes eight fuelling bays, two jet washes, a rollover car wash, vacuum facilities, parcel lockers, ATM, post office services and a bakery-led shop offer. The format reflects a wider trend across the retail sector: combining fuel sales with broader convenience and service income streams to maximise site performance.

Ambitious target

Arvan Ruia, CEO of Essar Energy Transition Retail, said: “This opening is a testament to the continued expansion of our network and our ability to secure outstanding locations. My thanks to everyone who joined us to mark the launch of this new flagship site, which is the first of many more to come.”

The Liverpool launch further strengthens the company’s footprint in the North West, close to the wider Essar energy and fuels operations centred around Stanlow. It also adds momentum to an ambitious national growth target.

Through its retail network, the business now supplies fuel to more than 150 forecourts across the UK with a stated ambition to expand to 600 sites.

For the wider liquid fuels sector, the investment highlights continuing confidence in well-positioned forecourts that can combine traditional fuel demand with evolving convenience-led customer expectations.
