Essar Energy Transition (EET) subsidiary Stanlow Terminals has entered into a strategic partnership with international tank maintenance specialist Verwater to support the long-term reliability and performance of its UK storage infrastructure.

Stanlow Terminals development will place the energy hub at the heart of hydrogen

The agreement combines Stanlow Terminals’ operational scale with Verwater’s specialist expertise in tank maintenance, construction and industrial services, supporting ongoing investment in asset integrity and operational efficiency.

Stanlow Terminals operates the UK’s largest bulk liquid storage business, with approximately three million cubic metres of capacity across its Stanlow and Tranmere facilities in north-west England.

The partnership will focus on maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of infrastructure that plays a key role in the UK’s energy supply chain, while supporting the company’s future development.

Investing in long-term asset integrity

Mike Gaynon, Chief Executive Officer of Stanlow Terminals, said: “The strongest infrastructure is built not only on steel and engineering, but on expertise, trust and lasting partnerships.

“Verwater’s international experience, technical capability and commitment to excellence make the company an ideal partner for Stanlow Terminals. Together, we will continue investing in our assets, supporting our customers and strengthening the foundations for future growth.”

Founded in 1922, Verwater provides specialist maintenance, construction and industrial asset services to tank terminals, refineries and other industrial facilities internationally.

Marloes Oude Breuil, Chief Executive Officer of Verwater Group, said: “Stanlow Terminals is one of the UK’s most significant storage and logistics businesses, making this an important opportunity for Verwater.

“We look forward to applying more than a century of international experience to help maintain the safety, reliability and effectiveness of these strategically important assets.”

The agreement will support Stanlow Terminals’ ongoing asset management and investment programme, combining its operational knowledge with Verwater’s specialist engineering capabilities.

Senior representatives from both businesses are also expected to visit the Stanlow facilities and meet operational teams as the partnership progresses.
