New partnership supports tanker operator’s growth ambition

Under the terms of the partnership, Hutchinson Transport will operate two bulk tankers on behalf of GreenChem, supporting the manufacturer and supplier’s national network of AdBlue customers.

The contract follows the management buyout of Hutchinson Transport Ltd and Hutchinson Technical Services Ltd, completed on 1 April 2026, by brothers Rhys and Nathan Hutchinson. Rhys, previously Operations Director, has taken on the role of Managing Director, while Nathan, formerly Technical Director, is Managing Director of Hutchinson Technical Services, the group’s commercial vehicle workshop business.

For Hutchinson Transport, the multi-year agreement, represents both a new product stream and a move into the long-term customer relationships it is targeting as it enters its next phase of growth.

Rhys Hutchinson, Managing Director of Hutchinson Transport, said: “Securing a contract with a major AdBlue manufacturer such as GreenChem is an exciting step forward in our current growth strategy.

“GreenChem needed a transport partner that could respond quickly and get the job done efficiently and safely. We were able to move fast, invest in the right equipment and work closely with their team to make sure the operation was set up correctly from day one.”

Jack Haynes, Sales Engineer and Account Manager at GreenChem Solutions, said Hutchinson Transport’s ability to adapt quickly, and its hands-on approach, were key to the relationship. “What impressed us was Hutchinson’s professionalism and thoroughness, and their willingness to meet all aspects of our requirements to win the business.”

He added: “For this kind of work, communication, reliability and a can-do attitude are absolutely key. The drivers have been helpful, friendly and reliable, and the engineering background within the business gives us confidence that if something does need putting right, it will be handled effectively and quickly.”

National network support

GreenChem Solutions is part of GreenChem Holding, which has operations across Europe. In the UK, the company manufactures and supplies AdBlue through seven production sites, with bulk product delivered into customer tanks across the country.

Based in Hull, the two Hutchinson Transport vehicles operate daily across the UK to fulfill the contract, with drivers carrying out multi-drop, measured-volume deliveries to GreenChem customer tanks.

The work is planned and prioritised according to stock-level data from GreenChem’s telemetry-monitored customer tanks.

Rhys said: “These are not standard bulk deliveries. The drivers need to be able to dispense precise volumes, issue the correct paperwork and follow GreenChem’s site procedures safely and consistently at every stop.”

On-board metering equipment enables drivers to pump the exact volume of AdBlue required at each drop, with an installed printer generating a delivery ticket to create an auditable record of supplied volume.

Growth ambition

Rhys said the contract is an important statement of intent for the business as he and Nathan build on the foundations laid by their parents, Bruce and Gill Hutchinson.

“Nathan and I are incredibly proud to be taking the business forward and continuing what our parents built,” he said. “GreenChem is exactly the sort of partnership we want to develop as we grow.

“It shows what Hutchinson Transport is about: safety-led tanker operations, specialist knowledge, practical engineering support, responsive service and a family business approach where customers can speak directly to the people making decisions.

“We are ambitious about the future, but growth has to be built on doing the job correctly. This contract is a great example of that.”
