Ian Walters, who works at the company’s Hull depot, won Driver of the Year 2026 at the UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) Expo & Conference, held in Liverpool on the 15th and 16th April and attended by more than a thousand industry delegates.
The award – sponsored by OAMPS Hazardous Industries – recognises outstanding tanker drivers from across the industry who demonstrate exceptional professionalism, safety, and service.
Ian, who also provides driver training for Rix Petroleum, was recognised for his outstanding performance on the road, his role in mentoring colleagues, supporting training initiatives, and leading by example to promote the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
A shining example
Duncan Lambert, Managing Director of Rix Petroleum, praised Ian’s contribution to the business and his dedication to colleagues: “Winning this award is fantastic recognition for Ian. Reacting to the win, Ian said he was ‘blown away’. “I can’t quite believe I have won this award and I’m incredibly grateful to the colleagues who put me forward for it.
“Throughout my career, I’ve always tried to do things in the right way and to help others to do the same, but I never expected that to be recognised at a national level. It’s a very proud achievement for me.”
