Over 60 delegates attending the recent Oil Terminal Management – Logistics for Traders in the Netherlands were in agreement that it was ‘an ideal platform for networking and learning more about terminal business development’.

The programme, which was organised in partnership with the ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, was attended by management and technical specialists from ports and terminals, oil and gas companies, traders and service providers from 17 countries.

Delegates had the opportunity to observe the organisation and work of companies that operate some of the most advanced terminals in the Netherlands  – Oiltanking Amsterdam, Vopak Botlek, Odfjell and Botlek Tank – where top managers and technical specialists were on hand to answer questions.   This year organisers Vostock Capital reported that delegates were particularly interested in the more technical side of terminal management – pumping, corrosion, filtration, emergency cases, automation and control.

The event, which also included a cocktail reception party on board a canal cruise boat., provided the opportunity to quiz directors from several companies including Vesta Terminals, Zeeland Seaports, Vopak Europoort and Service Terminal Rotterdam.

Experts from VTTI, Platts, Wood Mackenzie, Downstream, Oiltraining, Flowcom consultancy, PJK International and Pequod Associates also led workshops in terminal management, business development, traders and terminals co-operation.
