Online – the cookie crumbles

From May, the EU will be introducing changes that will affect the majority of live websites.

Not only will companies be unable to set cookies (the little files set on computers to recall user information) but when using analytics for tracking site visitors, they will need to obtain prior permission from users.

FON spoke to Eddie Johnson, web creative at Hat Trick Media, the company responsible for Chandlers Oil & Gas’ website. Eddie believes that the changes will definitely affect distributors with websites and advises them to contact their web administrator to ensure compliance with the new laws. He also recommended the www.aboutcookies.org website as a useful source of information.
